It’s Friday again! That means another “Exploring My Bookshelves” post! If you missed the last one, here’s what it’s all about:
For NaBloPoMo I’m going to be needing some help coming up with daily post ideas. So I’ll be participating in the “Exploring My Bookshelves” meme, a weekly prompt made every Friday by Addlepates and Book Nerds (check it out for instructions on how to participate!)
Today’s theme is “a creature you want to be.” This one was pretty much a no-brainer for me. I, of course, would want to be an Elf from The Lord of the Rings.
This is the Tolkien section of my home library, including the trilogy, The Hobbit, The Book of Lost Tales, The Silmarilion, and a book about Tolkien. In the box is my Evenstar necklace. And though you can’t see it in this photo, I have an artsy poster on the wall depicting Gandalf (among other characters). My trilogy box set is a second edition. Oh yes.
Anyway, enough showing off. I don’t think I need a ton of explanation for why an elf is my choice of creature (though, technically speaking, I believe they are more of a “species” than a creature). They are beautiful. Graceful. They kick ass. While being graceful. Yes, they are a teeeeeeny bit standoffish. But they love to sing and dance and be merry! They are immortal (which is a down side in my book, but there is Valinor). And they live in places that look like this:
It was a pretty easy decision.
If I were to be a creature from that world, I’d be a hobbit (in times of peace) though I’m not a fan of hairy feet.

I still haven’t read these books! Or seen the movies, even though they were filmed here 🙂 The elves sound amazing though!
Thanks for participating 🙂
