It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I’m all warm and fuzzy and satisfied, but I’m also at work. So I thought I’d kill some time and do a post that doesn’t require any thinking because my brain is still in Turkeyland and it’s quiet here at the library. Also, what better post on Black Friday than one that celebrates materialism? Here’s my bookish wishlist for this holiday season. I typically ask for books that I wouldn’t normally purchase for myself because they are either A. too expensive, or B. just gift-type books. And I expect to see some of these under the tree because I’ve already sent my list to Santa. And my mom. Who I suspect might be the same person.
Atlas Obscura by Dylan Thuras, Ella Morton, and Joshua Foer: One of the coolest websites on the interwebs came out with a book and I MUST HAVE IT. (If you’re not familiar, it’s basically an encyclopedia of quirky and interesting places.)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, Jim Kay illustrated edition: Cause I have the first one and IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL.
Rejected Princesses by Jason Porath: This is another book from a really awesome website/Tumblr blog. It’s a bunch of stories of historical, real-life, bad-ass princesses that wouldn’t make the cut for animated family films. So basically, everything I want in a book.
The Poldark books by Winston Graham: cause I’m watching the BBC show and I just…need.
The Book of Barely Imagined Beings by Caspar Henderson: This is a super cool bestiary published by the University of Chicago press. It’s a beatiful object of a book.
The Little Free Library Book by Margaret Aldrich: cause I really want to have one one day and this seems like the place to get started!
The Novel Cure: From Abandonment to Zestlessness: 751 Books to Cure What Ails You by Ella Berthoud and Susan Elderkin: basically a remedy book for readers. Isn’t that the neatest thing?
Infographic Guide to Literature by Joanna Eliot: cause I’m a sucker for cool infographics. And, you know, literature.
Hope your Santa gets you exactly what you want! 😛 I can’t imagine a whole collection of that HP illustrated edition (once they all come out). I don’t have the first one, but man do they look amazing!

Yeah, and they are large, so I dunno what they will do with the bigger books!

Love this post! I’m currently making my christmas list and it is basically just books too. I’m exactly the same as you are when it comes to books for christmas, I too ask for ones I wouldn’t buy myself, so I hope you get these and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on them all. 🙂
